Yoga for your DNA

As a yoga student and now years on as a teacher - I often find myself simply saying 'practicing yoga on & off the mat just makes you feel - wonderful - inside and out' it's one of the the things we can do to really alter how we feel - to ground when needed, calming every nerve and cell. But rejuvenate and bring masses of energy when require too. There's nothing it doesn't seem to provide if you simply show up.

I recently found this article and it very simply explains the effect in a scientific but accessible way, if you've found yourself wanting to start a practice and needed a real reason - I recommend this article. If you're wanting to get your partner, friend of family involved but they think it's merely performing gymnastics, then maybe you can take something away from this to pass onwards.

One of my favourite extracts is this - "Curiously, the test subjects practised these relaxing activities for just 20 minutes a day. Some did yoga, others listened to a simple meditation audio. The activity didn’t matter. It’s the underlying mechanism triggered by these activities. Scientists call it the “relaxation response”, which causes decreased oxygen consumption, increased exhaled nitric oxide, and reduced psychological distress. It sounds very simple to me, yet it can be extremely powerful."

Can you change your DNA to look younger
