Keeping your mat and surrounding space in good order helps to make a much more enjoyable experience and helps you to keep your focus throughout your practice. The act of caring for your mat is in itself a great chance to practice yoga.
"Excellence in all actions" - this resonates with me and often brings me back to the present moment when I allow daily life to clutter the mind. So to help you to care for your mat I've gone and shared my favourite blend for cleaning my yoga mat - it's antibacterial, a little bit energising and I can't help but being aware of how much the addition sweet orange oil,
brings happiness with it.

How to
- glass spray bottle (I use a 120ml bottle for ease of carrying around)
- half fill the bottle with distilled witch hazel (roughly 60ml)
- next add roughly 10 drops eucalyptus oil, 5 drops peppermint oil, 15 drops sweet orange oil to the bottle, add the top and give it a little shake
- finally fill the rest with filtered or distilled water (roughly 60ml) and give it another shake (remembering to put the lid on!)
To use it
- simply shake it to wake it up
- spray your mat after your practice and wipe with a towel or cloth.
- allow it to dry before rolling it up
Double the fun - also makes quite a nice room spritz for before and during your practice too!
